Steven Fong designed and oversaw the installation of the Malmesbury Chasse at the Art Galley of Ontario (AGO) for the late collector Ken Thomson. His house designs have won awards from Progressive Architecture and The Canadian Architect. He collaborated with SAM Zurich as the executive architect on the 30,000 sm headquarters for Swiss Re America in New York. In Toronto, he has served on committees addressing Gardiner Expressway mitigation strategies and waterfront revitalization. He has been an urban design consultant in China and developed plans for Shanghai, Qing Pu, and Chengdu. His research addresses the agency of architecture on several fronts: visionary urban projects connected to ambitions for social reform, economical housing forms that addresses affordability, and technical innovation intended to minimize the environmental footprint of the built environment. Fong currently has a Graham Foundation Grant to develop a comparative appraisal of waterfront developments on several Great Lakes cities.
