This compact 1,627 sf cottage is located on a steep half-acre site that slopes southward to a 100' lake frontage. The ground floor is essentially a large glazed porch and the second floor is a series of rooms used as private sleeping areas. The hybrid structure reflects this stratification, consisting of a cedar-clad box on top of a post-and-beam platform that in turn is standing on two rows of 5 concrete caissons anchored to bedrock. The initial platform above the forest floor is made by 2 x 10 joists on pairs of 5 x 12 beams at each column line.
